About Scala 40
Scala 40 uses two French decks and jokers to build sets and runs. Your opening combinations must total at least forty points before you can lay them down and work toward emptying the rest of your hand.
Count the value of your proposed opening before committing cards. After opening, consider how your remaining cards can join existing combinations rather than keeping every possible new set in hand.
